First, the news of the weird. \u00a0 \u00a0I got a call recently from a colleague asking if I would be interested in helping start a union on campus for staff. \u00a0 I politely told him no. \u00a0Seems like a strange thing to do – money out of my paycheck for the idea that someone else would act as my\u00a0liaison\u00a0– whether I want them to or not – with no certainty\u00a0that they can improve things that aren’t really broken and the chance to actually break things that are fine.<\/p>\n
In other news… I was planning on going up to see my room-mate again – and meeting a couple of our mutual friends there as well. \u00a0While I was on the road, his sister called and said he was being transferred to a step-down facility \u00a0– which is good. \u00a0 But she didn’t know his status, the plan for his treatment, h0w he was doing, exactly where he was going \u00a0– or when he was going. \u00a0I asked her to call back and find that out.<\/p>\n
I ran some errands, got some food, and cooled my heels for a bit at home for about 45 minutes – then I called her for an update. \u00a0She still didn’t know where he was or when they were transferring him. \u00a0Told me she’d call again. \u00a0So, I patiently waited for another half hour before she called again.<\/p>\n
This time, she started the conversation asking where he was. \u00a0I replied that that was what she was going to find out. \u00a0She then complained how tough it is for her to keep track of everything when she’s not there. \u00a0I refrained from reminding her that she was here and left and that she could come back at any time since she isn’t working. \u00a0Instead, I told her how important it is for the hospital to have one point of contact and for that person to then share information with everyone else. \u00a0She snippily told me that she knew that and said she would call the\u00a0hospital\u00a0again.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, their other brother called and set me straight. \u00a0My room-mate is not being transferred, though it has been discussed. \u00a0He’s still at the Cleveland Clinic and doing as well as can be expected. \u00a0 I just talked to my room-mate and he advised me to not listen to his sister anymore. \u00a0 Which I had already figured out.<\/p>\n
So, video games and an early night for me, I think.<\/p>\n
