Apparently, my room-mate did more than try to escape on Friday. \u00a0His mental state was so off that he tried to attack his sister and it took multiple security guards to get him settled. \u00a0The put him in restraints and had to sedate him. \u00a0I didn’t go and see him on Friday since he wasn’t awake, but I went up yesterday and spent much of the day with him. \u00a0He was better for much of the time – and I credit the assistant that was in the room with him. \u00a0He was on some medicine to flush the toxins out of his body, but it caused some accidents. \u00a0He was embarassed and scared, but the staff was really great with him.<\/p>\n
I was joking around with him and the assistant when, in the span of about 10-15 minutes, he crashed. \u00a0Couldn’t breath, paniced, incoherent. \u00a0 The doctor came in and checked him out and decided that his hemoglobin was too low and he needed a transfusion.<\/p>\n
So, they got him started on that and we got him settled and calmed down. \u00a0 The transfusion was helping, so I headed out. \u00a0 \u00a0The word is that they will be doing a liver biopsy tomorrow and then going from there.<\/p>\n
As I was driving home, one of sisters called me. \u00a0She was upset and I think she’d been drinking. \u00a0She and my room-mate’s brother keep wanting me to make the decisions about when they visit and I keep not doing that. \u00a0Frustrating.<\/p>\n
There were a couple of \u00a0bright spots to the day, even with the sudden chill to the air.<\/p>\n
1. The hospital caffeteria only serves diet drinks \u00a0– since they are more “healthy”. \u00a0Not sure how that meshes with the nuggets and fries I got at the mcdonald’s there or the bacon I got on my sub later on.<\/p>\n
