Yesterday, when Thunder still hadn\u2019t eaten, I took a half day from work to see if I could get him some help. \u00a0I called the vet first and since there was no change he told me to take him to the hospital. <\/span><\/p>\n

So, Thunder went back in the pet carrier and into the car. \u00a0He\u2019s not fond of car rides.<\/span><\/p>\n

We get to the hospital and I get him checked in. \u00a0The first vet tech and the vet on call loved him and remarked that he was so handsome – and his purr was amazing.<\/span><\/p>\n

The other vet tech – the one that came to take his blood – was not fortunate to get a purr from him. \u00a0Thunder hissed at her even before the needle stick and when she brought him back his neck smelled like alcohol. \u00a0She didn\u2019t give the details, but said he would be justified in writing a bad review of her on google. He wasn\u2019t hurt, I think he just got pissed off and knocked over the bottle of alcohol they were using to disinfect.<\/span><\/p>\n

And then Thunder and I waited. For a long time. <\/span><\/p>\n

I talked to him pretty much non-stop, we reviewed the causes of heart disease in dogs (there was a chart), and then I found a children\u2019s book about a dog going to the hospital. \u00a0The vet came in to apologize for the delay and say that the blood work was close to normal. She had some paperwork to finish up and would be back soon – so, we finished the book.<\/span><\/p>\n

And waited some more. \u00a0Cats are hard to read sometimes, but I could tell that he was glad I was there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then it was time to leave him there for the night while they got him going on an IV. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I went to the counter to check out and on one side of me was a couple having their dog put to sleep and on the other was a guy who\u2019s cat had suddenly gone blind.<\/span><\/p>\n

Broke my heart to leave my Little Furry Buddy there. <\/span><\/p>\n

This morning, I got a call from the vet and he said they\u2019d put Thunder on an appetite stimulant and an antibiotic. \u00a0The vet suggested a radiogram as the next step and I gave the okay – we won\u2019t know more until this afternoon. <\/span><\/p>\n

The house this morning is quieter than usual. \u00a0And I miss my cat.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
