Yesterday morning, at nearly the last minute, Jim invited me to join him on a guided walk around Firestone park. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t think I would want to go since history and old houses are on my \u201cso boring I can\u2019t believe it\u201d list – but I do like a good walk. \u00a0\u00a0And there were free cookies.<\/span><\/p>\n

I hustled down to the community center just as the the tour guides were introducing themselves and we were soon off. \u00a0I grabbed a cookie for the road.<\/span><\/p>\n

And, as expected, I liked the walk but was a little bored. I\u2019d be more interested in history, I guess, if we collectively really learned from it. \u00a0But we don\u2019t and we keep making the same mistakes. Seems a little pointless until we get it figured out.<\/span><\/p>\n

Case in point was the flagpole in the park. \u00a0There had been a huge pine tree there, but the area held water and the roots rotted. \u00a0So, they dug it up and – without fixing the water problem – put in another super expensive tree in the same spot. \u00a0And those roots also rotted. It was eventually replaced – most likely by an eagle-eyed controller looking at the tree budget – and now we\u2019ve got a flagpole. \u00a0But no flag, yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the walk were state and local representatives – as well as staff from the Mayor\u2019s office. \u00a0One of the reps was trying just a little<\/em> too hard, but the group overall was pretty nice. And I inadvertently learned a little about the history of my neighborhood. \u00a0I didn\u2019t retain that knowledge, but I\u2019m sure it was interesting.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday morning for me is usually laundry and video games and I fired up my Playstation with anticipation of some Final Fantasy grinding.\u00a0 There’s a Chocobo eating fiend on the path ahead and I knew I needed to level up before taking that thing on.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was playing for a bit when I noticed… a smell. \u00a0I thought it might be on my shoes, but they were clean. \u00a0And then I realized the back of my pants and the gamer chair I was sitting on were wet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thunder(cat) had pissed on my chair.<\/span><\/p>\n

I got up and threw my pants and underwear in the wash – then took a shower. \u00a0Yes, it soaked through that bad.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I was trying to clean the chair, I looked over at my cat – lying peacefully on the dining room floor. \u00a0He was looking back at me and casually flipping the tip of tail up and down as if to say:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis could have been avoided if you\u2019d done a better job on cleaning the litter box. \u00a0Idiot.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

At least, I suspect that was his motivation. \u00a0It\u2019s hard to tell with a cat. And like a dutiful servant who\u2019s been upbraided by his boss, I got the litter box cleaned next.<\/span><\/p>\n

It could have been worse, certainly. \u00a0Even if the chair has to be trashed – it could have been my bed. \u00a0I like to think that he assumed that this was my favorite place to sit and figured that would send the right message – but he wasn\u2019t willing to escalate this to defiling a sleeping area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Again, it\u2019s hard to tell with a cat.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, there\u2019s some tension in the house at the moment. \u00a0He\u2019s currently sitting on top of the couch, facing away from me. \u00a0And I\u2019m at the dining room table, facing away from the living room.<\/span><\/p>\n
