Took myself to Kohl’s recently, found the\u00a0clearance\u00a0rack, and picked up 4 shirts for about $30. \u00a0I’m always a little distrustful of the “sales hype” of Kohl’s but with a little luck there are some deals to be found.<\/p>\n
In other shirt news, I went to the Rubber City Clothing company as part of the Akron Art Walk. \u00a0Got the Route 8 sign printed in blue on a blue shirt. \u00a0Very cool and subtle. \u00a0The woman working at the shop (she called everyone “babe”, but I didn’t catch her name) – thought I made a good choice and commended me for thinking outside the box while she made up the shirt.<\/p>\n
The Akron Art walk was a mixed bag. \u00a0Some of the galleries were crazy over-priced and pretentious, but there were some really cool things too. \u00a0 The cool stuff included pottery with QR codes on them – and the codes pointed to Wikipedia entries on the types of pottery.<\/p>\n
One area has a show that wasn’t meant to last – all the pieces were intended to be destroyed when the\u00a0exhibit\u00a0was done. \u00a0And one of the pieces there had a bunch of objects that you were encouraged to use to make your own artwork. \u00a0When done, we took a picture with the attached digital camera and left it for the next person to redo.<\/p>\n
There was also an art contest and some really cool pieces to vote on. \u00a0We voted on the guy shamelessly self-promoting himself with free samples.<\/p>\n
Next up was a glass blowing demonstration. \u00a0Very cool. \u00a0Well, actually extra-fiery\u00a0hot. \u00a0But neat, yeah, that’s the word.<\/p>\n
In my own art news… I’ve been working hard on my Halloween costume and having a lot of success. \u00a0I completed one of the more complicated steps and was so excited I jumped up and down in place – much like a very excitable 3 year old I know.<\/p>\n
I got to see that 3 year old on Sunday as his parents had us over for some freaking amazing home-made pizza. \u00a0I helped the little dude assemble a plastic car and got to see his excited jumping again.<\/p>\n
So, the costume should be wrapped up by the middle of this week – just two more steps to complete. \u00a0Which puts me way ahead of schedule. \u00a0 Sorry, though, no hints in advance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
