I had called my former neighbors last week and left them a message asking if they wanted to come over and see my place on Sunday. \u00a0I didn’t hear back from them until Sunday afternoon saying they couldn’t come – by that point, I had been a cleaning machine. \u00a0Right up until my cleaning machine – i.e.\u00a0vacuum\u00a0cleaner – broke. \u00a0Well, broke again. \u00a0The handle release broke once before and I had made a partial fix. \u00a0This time, parts flew across the room. \u00a0It was over 10 years old and badly in need of replacement. \u00a0And it smelled funny.<\/p>\n
So, I salvaged some of the more interesting parts for future Halloween costumes and went out and bought a new\u00a0vacuum\u00a0and a mop. \u00a0The vaccum claims to be better than a Dyson at half the price. \u00a0Well, it was far less than half price \u00a0– don’t know about being better than a Dyson since I haven’t tried it yet – I had pretty much finished my cleaning when the old one broke.<\/p>\n
The neighbors said they could maybe visit this weekend so I skipped the mopping until it gets a little closer to their visit.\u00a0The place is looking really good – I’m pretty happy in my house now. \u00a0Though, in some ways, it STILL doesn’t feel like mine. \u00a0Weird.<\/p>\n
I made my first harvest from my garden over the weekend. \u00a0Well, I cut some invasive mint that was growing next to the garage and hung it in the basement. \u00a0Think I might be able to make some tea at some point. \u00a0So, that counts, right?<\/p>\n
Got some sad news at work. \u00a0My co-worker and one of my best friends is leaving the university. \u00a0He’s got a much better job, for more money, doing what he loves, with a much better commute. \u00a0 So, I’m happy for him that he’s moving forward, but sad that he’s leaving our crew. \u00a0He’s got about a week and half before he’s gone and we’re taking him out for Chipotle for his farewell dinner. \u00a0 I’ll keep in touch with him by email and text, but it won’t be the same.<\/p>\n
I’m going on a day trip on a boat with some friends around one of the local lakes tomorrow for the 4th. \u00a0Should fun – looking forward to some sun and some swimming. \u00a0Swimming in the pool and doing laps is fine, but in a lake I’m more like an otter. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
