My sister called me this morning and had some big news. \u00a0My niece went poop in the potty! \u00a0I can’t recall ever having been so excited about someone pooping before. They were both pretty excited too – my niece especially so since she got a sucker as a reward. \u00a0 My sister is planning on saving those for the “major events” and using M&M’s when my niece goes pee in the potty.<\/p>\n
As a side note, apparently Mom toilet trained me in a day using M&M’s – so, it works. \u00a0Though, I was clearly gifted.<\/p>\n
Buoyed\u00a0by their success and with gift cards in hand, I headed out to get started on my projects. \u00a0First stop was Lowe’s for curtain rods, detergent (apparently, I have an HE washer), a new shower head, and plastic for the office window. \u00a0Next, Best Buy for a new game. \u00a0I had a gift card and the game I wanted was on sale – and it included a bonus game. \u00a0 Sweet!<\/p>\n
Then, Bed Bath and Beyond for curtains. \u00a0I wandered around that section for awhile before I\u00a0conceded\u00a0that I was totally out of my element. \u00a0I found a clerk, expressed my ignorance, and got set on the right track.<\/p>\n
For the record, I skipped going to books a million. \u00a0You should be proud of me. \u00a0 A quick stop at Wendy’s and then I was on my way home.<\/p>\n
I ran into some trouble with the curtains – the existing holes in the wood were too small and I ruined a couple screws trying to make them work before getting out the drill. \u00a0Then I realized that the doecorative bits on the ends of the curtain rod wouldn’t really fit in the space I had. \u00a0I left them up anyway and you can’t really see them.<\/p>\n
Then, plastic for office window. \u00a0I’ve put this up before, but never with a window so drafty. \u00a0The wind actually made the plastic billow out \u00a0– and this is with the windows “shut” – and it didn’t do quite according to plan. \u00a0I’ll try again with the dryer tomorrow and see if I can get better results.<\/p>\n
Finally, the shower head. \u00a0I got the old one off okay and went to put the water saving one on and… it didn’t fit. \u00a0Apparently, I need an adapter. \u00a0 Looks like I’m going back to Lowe’s tomorrow.<\/p>\n
In and\u00a0among\u00a0the projects, I also did some laundry. \u00a0 Since this was the first load I’ve done since I’ve been here, I felt the need to encourage the washer as it started off. \u00a0I also said some nice things to both the washer and the dryer every time I went to check on them. \u00a0It must \u00a0have worked – my clothes are clean. \u00a0 Ummm… yeah.<\/p>\n
So, a little Imogen Heap and then it’s off to bed for me. \u00a0More work to be done tomorrow.<\/p>\n
