Take a cube and divide each face into nine squares. “Core” each face to remove the center square. With the remaining eight squares on each face, divide by nine again and core out the middle square. Repeat forever. You’ll end up with a menger sponge – a shape that has infinite surface area, but zero volume. Here’s my limited iteration version – made with sonobe units. I built on as one structure – then recreated it using smaller chunks, thought the smaller version won’t support itself as well.
